An outline of my teaching philosophy that centers on creating inclusive, collaborative, and critically engaged dance spaces where students are empowered to explore their full selves through movement, reflection, and community.

My artist statement outlines how my work is rooted in the belief that dance can be a transformative space where belonging, selfhood, and identity are not only explored but embodied, creating room for authenticity, healing, and collective expression.

This preliminary literature review was conducted in fulfillment of my MFA in Modern Dance at the University of Utah. It explores how centering the body in physical, emotional, and cultural contexts can deepen our understanding of selfhood and identity, particularly through the lens of trans and gender non-conforming experiences, by engaging with theories of embodiment, liminality, and decolonial pedagogy within dance.

This presentation served as my proposal for the MFA Thesis Research, which was approved by my Committee Members to move into candidacy. This proposal combines my preliminary literature review with findings from my movement generation process to evaluate the role of the body in understanding the self.  Slides were created by Aspen Tracey
