ABOUT ME

Anchor 1

I’m a non-binary dancer, choreographer, and educator committed to reshaping the dance world through inclusive, identity-centered artistry. I’m currently pursuing an MFA in Modern Dance and a Screendance Certificate at the University of Utah, where my research focuses on cultivating equitable and inclusive spaces within dance pedagogy and choreography. My teaching practice—rooted in Critical Dance Pedagogy and Nepantla Pedagogy—blends embodied storytelling, discussion (plática), and reflection. I strive to create classrooms that prioritize consent, adapt to diverse learning styles, and center marginalized narratives, so that every student can find belonging within their body and artistry.

My dance journey began with ballet training at Cave Creek Dance Academy and Springfield Dance. It later expanded into contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, heels, musical theatre, modern, and improvisation after returning to Arizona in 2014. I trained and competed with Bender Performing Arts and Prima Dance Arizona, where I performed featured roles like the “Sugar Plum Fairy Variation” in The Nutcracker. I graduated from Cactus Shadows High School in the top 10% of my class with an International Baccalaureate Diploma, creating original choreographic works evaluated by international panels as part of my Honors Dance and IB Dance coursework.

I earned my BFA in Dance, Summa Cum Laude, from Colorado State University in just 3.5 years. During my time there, I performed in over 25 faculty and student-choreographed works, including Across the Universe from Beetlejuice, restaged by Dwight Rhoden of Complexions Contemporary Ballet. I also trained in masterclasses with renowned companies such as Pilobolus, Ballet Jörgen, and Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. My choreographic works—including Blessed Be the Fruit (2020), No Justice No Peace (2021), and Blind Faith (2021)—were featured in mainstage performances. Blessed Be the Fruit was transformed into a screendance and selected for the 2021 Dance is Activism Film Festival by Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance. My academic research culminated in an autoethnographic paper, Lesbian Dancers: An Autoethnography Analyzing the Impact of Their Absence on Dance Pedagogy, which critiques the marginalization of queer women in dance education.

After graduating, I moved to Los Angeles to work professionally as a dancer, choreographer, and educator. I performed in both live and filmed works in contemporary and hip-hop genres, collaborating with artists including Derek and Hayley Erbert Hough, Jessica Starr, Matthew Fata, and Dexter Da Rocha. I expanded my training through the MusEffect Company and taught contemporary and hip-hop at the West LA Academy of Dance and Exceleration Studios as a faculty member. I am also the primary contemporary choreographer for Prima Dance Arizona, where my solos, trios, and group pieces have won numerous outstanding choreography awards, performance awards, and 1st Place Overall titles on a regional and national level at competitions such as NRG, Fluid, Groove, Encore, etc. I have also been a guest choreographer for high school dance programs within LA and Arizona.

Now based in Salt Lake City, I continue to develop my thesis research and choreographic voice through showcasing my work with 801 Salon and Creative Process to the Production Graduate Group (CPPGG), and Screendance works like lim | I | nal and l'être et le néant, both of which explore identity and selfhood in site-specific contexts. I have also had the opportunity to perform for the distinguished faculty of the University of Utah, Molly Heller, exploring themes of grief and loss, and Eric Handman, exploring the role of technology and movement through a piece with 10 drones. I continue to explore my teaching philosophies, teaching and assisting university courses in contemporary technique, composition, Hip-Hop History, and dance appreciation, combining rigorous technical training with improvisation and self-exploration.

My work lives at the intersection of dance, identity, and justice—and I remain passionate about curating spaces where movement becomes a path toward self-discovery, connection, and transformation.
